Big Blue Blog knows that many travellers enjoy city breaks to well-known locations such as Barcelona, Prague, Paris and the like. However soon travellers will be able to really get away with a 3 night stay in hotel in space!
The Spanish company that is behind this states that people will see the sun rise 80 times during their stay, but the meteoric costs of £2.7 million could mean some of us may have to wait until they have a special offer on.
There are some sceptics of Xavier Claramunt and his Galactic Suite who feel the costs have been under-estimated and their 2012 goal is unrealistic. Although I think the focus should be on the real star here; the ‘mystery billionaire’ that has stumped up the £2.5 billion to get this thing off the ground!!

Here at Big Blue Blog we know we’re not alone with the feeling that we’ve always wanted to live like a hamster…are we?!?!
No, we didn’t think so. Well, now you’re on-board with the idea of rodent living quarters, we’ve ferreted out just the hotel for you!
A French hotel in the city of Nantes is offering this fantastic opportunity, in what they call ‘Hamster Villa’. For a very reasonable £88 (99 Euros) per night, you can have a run in your 2-metre wheel, feast on hamster grain and get some kip in your very own haystack.
Unfortunately at Big Blue Blog we have learnt that the prices could be increasing as today’s hamster requires Wi-Fi and flat screen TV’s!
Dressing-up as rodent, whatever you’re doing, we would recommend that you always get the right travel insurance no matter how bizarre your holiday might be!

We have all heard the phrase “It’s bureaucracy gone mad!”, but are these futile and sometimes ridiculous rules starting to ruin you holidays!?!?
Recently a Qantas flight coming into land at Adelaide Airport was diverted to Canberra, the reason…the airport has a curfew of 11pm! Passengers were dismayed as the aircraft was redirected after being only a minute or two late, but apparently "rules are rules"!
Here at the Big Blue Blog we thought that coconuts were synonymous with the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Sun-worshippers drinking the milk straight from the shell, as the sea laps up onto the picturesque beaches, but how wrong can we be? Apparently quite wrong!
It has recently been announced that officials are banning the coconut shells in an attempt to clean up Brazilian beaches for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games! And although we commend their efforts, these husks are biodegradable and tourists will still be able to drink from cans and bottles which already litter the beaches!

Here at Big Blue Blog we welcome the crazy people of the world, no really, you should see some of the people here! But one guy has even caught our attention and that amazing fellow is Kashi Sammadar.
Kashi, as we like to call him, is a Dubai based businessman who has just got the world record for travelling to the most countries in the shortest amount of time…194 nations in just 6 years, 10 months and 7 days, at a cost of £350,000!
But what made this eccentric Indian businessman decide to attack the globe, well the idea arose after being stranded in Johannesburg, South Africa for two days with visa problems due to his nationality. He wanted to show the world and mainly other Indians that you can travel to any country in the world no matter what your nationality and Big Blue Blog commends him for that!
However it wasn’t plain sailing for Kashi, in Kabul his hotel was blown apart an hour after he left his room, he dodged bullets in war-torn Afghanistan, Somalia and Surinam, went without food for three days in East Timor and had to wait almost three years for visa into Moldova!
